Commercial vehicle crash in Texas results in catastophic injuries

On Behalf of | Nov 19, 2018 | Firm News, Workplace Injuries |

The life of a U.S. Postal Service worker is busy. While driving a commercial vehicle, the worker is at risk for personal injury just like anyone else driving a motor vehicle. One Texas worker’s life currently hangs in the balance after a two-vehicle crash that occurred in another state on a recent Monday.

When a Texas worker is hurt on the job, he or she is responsible for reporting the incident to the employer. Most U.S. employers are required to purchase workers’ compensation insurance to provide benefits for employees when on-the-job accidents cause injuries to employees. These benefits can help pay medical expenses and replace lost wages and, when necessary, provide training for other work when the injury suffered makes it impossible to continue in the same position.

When the recent collision occurred, the worker in question was apparently making a U-turn. A tow truck suddenly slammed into the postal vehicle, causing such serious injuries to the postal worker that he needed to be flown to a trauma center for emergency treatment. The roadway was left strewn with wreckage and package debris.

Some Texas workers survive catastrophic injuries following commercial vehicle accidents but are left with partial or full, permanent disabilities. Sadly, others succumb to their injuries. Any man or woman hurt while working, or the immediate surviving family of a fatal accident victim, who has questions regarding the workers’ compensation system may reach out for experienced legal support at any time. A lawyer can provide answers to questions about claims and can also make navigation of the system a lot less stressful.
