Catastrophic injuries often caused by tractor-trailer collisions

On Behalf of | Dec 1, 2018 | Catastrophic Auto Accident Injuries, Firm News |

Every day, in Texas and on roadways throughout the country, unsuspecting travelers get behind the wheels of their cars, assuming they are going to safely reach their destinations. Some will but others will wind up suffering catastrophic injuries in motor vehicle collisions caused by negligent or reckless drivers. Such injuries often include serious burns, paralysis or brain trauma. A recent crash on Highway 380 resulted in injuries to several people.

As is often the case in such situations, preliminary investigations did not answer all the questions regarding what (or who) may have caused the tragic accident to occur. Initial reports state that a tractor-trailer and a sport utility vehicle collided. A witness said the massive truck jackknifed and that the cab of the truck was tipped over.

Two occupants of the tractor-trailer had to be airlifted from the scene although they were not listed in life-threatening condition. The SUV driver was also transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment of serious injuries. The Department of Public Safety alerted the public that the highway was being shut down until further notice.

Catastrophic injuries often prompt serious financial crises, in addition to changing the lives of those affected. Many recovering victims need daily living assistance. It is no secret that in-home care and medical treatment in general are quite expensive. Texas law allows accident victims to seek financial recovery for their losses when driver negligence or recklessness is to blame; an experienced personal injury attorney can gather evidence to help substantiate a plaintiff’s claim in court.
