Every Texas driver is obligated to adhere to traffic and safety regulations. That does not guarantee that every driver will fulfill his or her obligation. In fact, some motorists are quite reckless behind the wheel, sometimes on purpose. A recent fatal accident appears to be an example of the devastation that can occur when road rage is a causal factor in a collision
At least that’s what officials believe may have happened according to their preliminary investigations. Sadly, a 17-year-old boy who was a few days shy of his senior year in high school died when a car smashed into his vehicle from behind. The initial impact was so great that it caused the young man’s vehicle to flip multiple times.
The teenager had a passenger in his car at the time. That person suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Investigators say they think the driver of the car that hit the teen’s vehicle was angry at him and that the crash was intentional.
Police have issued a public statement asking for any person who knows anything about the altercation that may have occurred before the accident to please report what he or she knows to local authorities. It is not the first time a Texas road rage incident has resulted in a fatal accident. The parent of a minor killed in an auto accident caused by someone’s negligence may seek justice in his or her child’s memory by filing a wrongful death claim in court.
