Texas man suffers catastophic injuries in wrong-way crash

On Behalf of | Jan 17, 2019 | Catastrophic Auto Accident Injuries, Firm News |

Texas roads can be dangerous to travelers, especially when drivers fail to adhere to traffic laws or are negligent behind the wheel. Those who drink and drive, text and drive or are otherwise distracted place themselves and others at great risk for catastrophic injuries. Such incidents often involve vehicles that have veered into oncoming traffic.

A 37-year-old man was rushed to the hospital with incapacitating injuries on a recent Monday. No information was provided as to where the man was heading except to indicate his vehicle was struck by a vehicle heading the wrong direction in his lane. There is often little to no time to safely react to avoid a crash in such circumstances.

The wrong-way vehicle hit the man’s car head-on. The 19-year-old driver of the car that appears to have caused the crash did not survive his injuries. Many teenage drivers are inexperienced, while some others often engage in reckless driving behaviors, such as traveling over the posted speed limits or acting under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

When a motorist or passenger suffers catastrophic injuries due to driver negligence, such situations often lead to personal injury litigation. The plaintiff in a personal injury claim is tasked with proving to a judge or jury that negligence occurred and was directly responsible for the injuries in question. An experienced Texas attorney can provide much-needed support to those who wish to pursue justice in the aftermath of a motor vehicle accident by seeking legal accountability against a negligent driver.
